Table money

  • Honba: +300 per honba on a ron, +100 from each payer on a tsumo.
  • Riichi: put down a 1,000 stick. The next winner takes every stick on the table.
  • Exhaustive draw: noten players pay 3,000 in total to the tenpai players. One tenpai: 1,000 from each. Two: 1,500 each way. Three: 3,000 from the one noten.
  • The dealer keeps the deal on a win or tenpai at a draw. Each repeat adds a honba.

Counting fu

  1. Start at 20 (futei).
  2. Add 10 for a closed hand won by ron, or 2 for any tsumo.
  3. Add each triplet and quad from the grid.
  4. Add the pair: dragon +2, seat wind +2, round wind +2, seat and round wind +4.
  5. Add the wait: kanchan +2, penchan +2, tanki +2. Two-sided and two-pair waits add nothing.
  6. Round up to the next 10.

  • Open hand with no fu at all: 30 fu.
  • A triplet finished by ron counts as open.

Guide

How to use it

  1. Press Print. The site header, this guide and the buttons drop out, and the sheet prints black on white.
  2. Pick A4 or Letter, portrait, at 100% scale. It fits on two pages either way.
  3. Print double-sided and keep it at the table. Page one is the money; page two is fu, yaku and calls.
  4. Need a number the table can't give you, like a hand with honba and sticks? Use the score calculator.
Rules

Rules this tool assumes

  • Modern Japanese rules as played on Tenhou and Mahjong Soul: open tanyao allowed, 13+ han is kazoe yakuman.
  • Kiriage mangan off. The note under the limit table shows what changes when your table uses it.
  • A seat-and-round-wind pair counts 4 fu. Some clubs pay 2.
  • Renhou is left off because its value changes from rule set to rule set.
  • Four players. In three-player games a tsumo has two payers, so the totals come out smaller.
