Mahjong Soul rank calculator

From Novice to Saint, every game is scored in rank points. 1st and 2nd earn a room bonus plus uma of +15 and +5. 3rd earns no bonus and takes -5 uma. 4th takes -15 uma plus a penalty set by your rank. Your final score counts too: each 1,000 points above or below the 25,000 start is one rank point.

Progress through Novice, Adept, Expert, Master, Saint, and Celestial. Each tier has 3 stars (except Celestial). Reach the promotion threshold to move up. From Adept 2 up, dropping below 0 points demotes you. Novice 1 to 3 and Adept 1 can't demote.

Higher rooms pay a bigger 1st-place bonus, and the same or a bigger 2nd-place bonus. The 4th-place penalty follows your rank, not the room, so with the same placement rates the higher room never earns less. The calculator places you in the best room your rank can enter.

South games (Hanchan) pay about twice the room bonus of East games (Tonpuusen), and the 4th-place penalty is about twice as big. Neither is always an exact double: Jade pays 30 for an East 2nd and 55 for a South 2nd, and the Master 1 penalty is 80 in East and 165 in South. The uma is the same in both.

This tool runs Monte Carlo simulations based on your placement rates. It doesn't account for score differentials or uma bonuses beyond the base values. Use it as a guide to understand how your play style affects long-term rank progression.
