Guide

How to use it

  1. Pick the han and the fu. At 5 han and up the fu stop mattering, so the fu box locks.
  2. Not sure of the fu? Open Help me count fu, describe the wait, the pair and the four melds, then press Use to copy the total across.
  3. Set who won (dealer or not) and how (ron or tsumo).
  4. Add honba and any riichi sticks on the table. The result shows what each player pays and what you collect.
  5. Playing three-player? Pick 3 (sanma) under Players, then pick how a tsumo pays.
  6. Copy the link to send the exact hand to a friend. The table at the bottom rings your cell.
Rules

Rules this tool assumes

  • Basic points are fu x 2^(2 + han), capped at mangan. Payments round up to the next 100.
  • Mangan from 5 han, or 4 han 40 fu and 3 han 70 fu. Haneman 6-7, baiman 8-10, sanbaiman 11-12, kazoe yakuman 13+.
  • Kiriage mangan is off by default. Switch it on and 4 han 30 fu and 3 han 60 fu pay a mangan.
  • Double and triple yakuman stack.
  • Each honba adds 300 to a ron, or 100 from each payer on a tsumo. Each riichi stick is worth 1,000 to the winner.
  • At three players a honba adds 200 to a ron, or 100 from each of the two payers on a tsumo.
  • Pinfu tsumo is 20 fu, seven pairs is 25 fu, and an open hand with no fu is rounded to 30.

Press Print under the table for the non-dealer chart, then the dealer chart. The printable cheat sheet adds fu, every yaku and the calls. The scoring guide counts fu step by step, with worked hands.

Three players

Sanma scoring: what changes

Three-player riichi (sanma) keeps the han and fu. A ron pays the same as at four players. The tsumo and the honba change, and so does the set. These are the rules on Tenhou's three-player tables.

  • 108 tiles. The 2 to 8 of characters come out. With them gone, a 1-man indicator makes the 9-man the dora, and a 9-man indicator makes the 1-man the dora.
  • No chii. You can only call pon and kan.
  • North is a bonus tile. Set it aside, draw a replacement, and it counts as a dora. Mahjong Soul plays it too. Keep north in a set instead and it's a wind with no yaku.
  • Tsumo loss. A tsumo collects the usual shares from two players, not three. A non-dealer mangan is 8,000 by ron but 2,000 + 4,000 = 6,000 by tsumo. A dealer mangan is 12,000 by ron but 4,000 + 4,000 = 8,000 by tsumo. Mahjong Soul ranked games pay the same way.
  • Honba are worth 200. A ron adds 200 a honba. A tsumo adds 100 from each payer.
  • 35,000 start, 40,000 return. The placement bonus is +20, 0, and -20.

Some rules split the missing north share between the two payers instead, rounded up to 100. SEGA's MJ plays it that way: a non-dealer mangan tsumo is 3,000 + 5,000. Pick North split above to use it. The calculator keeps Tenhou's honba in both modes: 200 on a ron, 100 a payer on a tsumo. SEGA charges 1,000 a honba.

Parlors write their own sanma rules. Two Namba parlors charge 1,000 a honba, and neither has tsumo loss. Read the rule card before your first hand.
