Table A, game 1: seven big hands in nine, Asami leads from south 2
Nine hands, no draws, and every player led at some point without anyone passing 40,000. Kinmaweb's match report counts three and four and notes that not one of them used a two-han yaku. The value was all , red fives and .
Shiratori Sho (Shibuya ABEMAS) opened with a riichi and a tsumo: riichi, tsumo, a dora and a red five, 2,000/4,000. Date Arisa (KONAMI Mahjong Fight Club), dealer in east 2, declined a tenpai on turn three rather than cut the dora, riichi'd on the dora as a , and drew it. 4,000 all. One later Suzuki Daisuke (BEAST X) chased Date's riichi with and drew it with two ura dora, 3,000/6,000, and led.
Asami Maki (Akasaka Drivens) had 15,900 after paying into all three. In east 3 she passed a tenpai because taking it meant cutting a tile that was only a , kept a safe discard, drew her tenpai a turn later and chased dealer Shiratori's riichi. Shiratori's wait was dead, Date held its tiles, and he drew Asami's winner on the next turn and dealt it: riichi, , , a red five and an ura dora, 8,000. South 1 went the other way. Shiratori hit dealer Suzuki Daisuke for 12,000: riichi, tanyao, two dora, a red five and an ura dora. In south 2 a tile that slipped past Shiratori's call reached Asami and turned her tenpai into a . She riichi'd and drew it ippatsu with an ura dora, 3,000/6,000, the lead at 36,900. Suzuki Daisuke was last on 13,300 in south 3. The reflex play cuts the 8p to lock in two dora and the red five. He held it, cut a dora instead to riichi on a six-tile run, and drew the 4s for another 3,000/6,000, up to second. Shiratori's 1,000 off Date in the all-last held third. Date finished fourth on 16,900, -43.1.
Table B, game 1: Nakabayashi's 6,000 all, Shibata's 12,000 on hand one
The first hand cost HIRO Shibata (EARTH JETS) 12,000. Nagai Kosuke (EX Furinkazan), dealer, riichi'd first on a riichi-only . Shibata, with a called , pushed into tenpai. Takeuchi Genta (Sega Sammy Phoenix) held three dora and three red fives, called a off Nagai into tenpai, and Shibata dealt him the tile: tanyao, three dora, three red fives, , 12,000. Afterwards Shibata said he may have overdone it. The match report that quotes him adds that the tile was a from his seat. Takeuchi gave 8,000 of it back the next hand on a tile the report calls safe on two counts: riichi, pinfu, two red fives and an ura dora.
Nakabayashi Kei (U-NEXT Pirates), dealer in east 3, riichi'd and drew it ippatsu: riichi, tsumo, pinfu, two red fives and an ura dora, 6,000 all. He had 43,000 and led to the end. Nagai, down to 8,300, took riichi, tanyao and a dora for 4,000 all with a and two sticks in south 1. Nakabayashi got to one tile from a tenpai in south 3 and dealt Shibata a 2,000 double south. Shibata went into the all-last second by 400 after a draw. Nagai declared first again, another kanchan. Shibata took tenpai on a kanchan 2s with three of the 1s already visible, sat for a turn, then riichi'd anyway, and told the match report afterwards it was a straight fight with Nagai. Nagai drew it: riichi, tsumo, a red five, 1,300/2,600 with the honba and stick, second by 9,800. Third for Shibata, 19,000 and -21.0.
Table A, game 2: Suzuki Taro's hell wait and the all-last he rebuilt
Suzuki Taro (Akasaka Drivens), Taro to the league and its reports, opened with a riichi as dealer in the second hand and got a three-way draw. Then the game ran away from him. Takamiya Mari (KONAMI Mahjong Fight Club) tsumo'd a haneman in east 2, riichi, tanyao, pinfu, a red five and an ura dora. Matsumoto Yoshihiro (Shibuya ABEMAS), dealer in east 3, sat dama on tanyao, and a red five and hit Takamiya for 12,000. One honba later Shimoishi Geki (BEAST X) riichi'd a haneman, Takamiya riichi'd behind him, and Matsumoto made it three riichi with a riichi of his own. Shimoishi dealt in: riichi, ippatsu, tanyao, pinfu and a red five, a dealer mangan, 12,000. Matsumoto had 46,800 and Shimoishi 8,200.
Two hands got Taro back in it. East 4, one honba: he declined a that would have given him a tanyao tenpai, drew the tenpai himself, and riichi'd. The 5p came on the draw: riichi, tsumo, tanyao, pinfu, a red five and an ura dora, 3,000/6,000, and second place. South 2 was the . riichi on the west with two copies visible and one left, the shape the match report, using his nickname, calls Zeus's , and he drew it ippatsu. Riichi, ippatsu, tsumo, chiitoitsu and a red five: 3,000/6,000 again, and the lead at 44,200. Matsumoto took it back in south 3, a dealer on a four-sided wait, 12,000 straight off Taro.
The all-last, two honba, Taro 35,200 to Matsumoto's 41,700: a 1,300/2,600 tsumo or a 6,400 . He had a riichi-only tenpai available on turn five and passed it, breaking a pair to keep pinfu and the red five. Two draws later he cut a tile from a triplet for a pinfu riichi, where any tsumo won and a ron needed one ura dora. Takamiya, one from chiitoitsu and safe from fourth, pushed and dealt in: riichi, ippatsu, pinfu, a red five and an ura dora, 8,000. Taro finished on 43,800, Matsumoto second on 41,700. Shimoishi finished with -3,900 on the table and -63.9 on the sheet, his second fourth in a week.
Table B, game 2: Ishii's south round, from 36th of 40
Ishii Kazuma (EARTH JETS) came into the night 36th of 40 players and more than 180 points down, by the kinmaweb match report's count. East 1, one honba. He riichi'd on turn three on a with five tiles live, and all five went to the other three players. The hand was a draw. A riichi-only 2,600 with two sticks off Nakabayashi in his second dealer hand was the only thing the east round paid him. In the next hand, three honba, he called three times and was first to tenpai on a . Nakabayashi riichi'd. Katsumata Kenji (EX Furinkazan) chi'd the declaration tile into honitsu and with a dora, and Ishii dealt it: 8,000 plus the honba. He told the report afterwards that nobody stops that tile on a 5,800 tenpai, and that Katsumata is good. In east 3 he riichi'd again and Daigo Hiroshi (Sega Sammy Phoenix) tsumo'd 1,000/2,000 from a turn-five , , a dora and a red five.
The turn came in east 4, a quiet one: chiitoitsu dama on a single dora with one copy visible, 8,000 off Nakabayashi. Then the south round was his. In south 1 his riichi beat Nakabayashi's: riichi, pinfu, tsumo and two dora, 2,000/4,000, and the lead at 35,200. Nakabayashi, down to 8,900, took 8,000 off Daigo in south 2: Daigo's turn-three chiitoitsu riichi ran into his , Daigo drew the east and had to cut it, and three ura dora did the rest. He took 3,900 more off Daigo in south 3. Ishii added 1,000/2,000 with tanyao and two dora and finished on 39,500 with the last riichi stick, +59.5. Daigo's all-last riichi was alone in tenpai and ended in a draw. That left Daigo fourth, 14,500 and -45.5.

Three things to take to your own table
Price a hand by the red fives you can't see. All seven big hands in game 1A were riichi plus dora, red fives and ura, and not one carried a two-han yaku. On table B, Takeuchi called once, the meld showed a dora, and the hand behind it held two more and three red fives. Shibata's one-chance push cost 12,000. Before you push into a called hand, count the red fives you haven't seen.
Pass a tenpai that can't meet your condition. Taro needed 1,300/2,600 or 6,400 in the all-last. Riichi alone pays 1,300 on a ron and 700/1,300 on a tsumo, so the turn-five tenpai was worth nothing to him. He broke a pair, kept pinfu and the red five, and riichi'd two draws later on a hand where any tsumo won.
Ishii lost the east round and won the game. He was first to tenpai three times in the east round and riichi'd first twice. None of it paid beyond a riichi-only 2,600, and the five tiles he needed in east 1 all went to other seats. Then he won the game. Friday's post on M Data Lab put the share of luck in one season's results at 88%, and a season is 120 games. Three hands tell you nothing about the next three.
